Dental problems are among the most common health issues vets see in dogs. A few small daily habits help keep teeth and gums in better shape.

1. Brushing is the gold standard
Brushing with a dog toothpaste (never human toothpaste) is the most effective habit. Start slowly with a finger brush or starter kit and lots of praise.

2. Dental chews as a daily extra
Textured dental chews like Whimzees give dogs something to work on and are a popular daily treat. Pick the right size for your dog, supervise chewing, and count chews in daily food.

3. Wipes and sprays
If your dog won't tolerate brushing, dental wipes and sprays are an easier alternative.
